Microbial Zoo

Microbes are invisible without the use of high power magnifying glasses and microscopes. The Living Microbes stations let visitors get up close and personal with different microbial life by leveraging Wentzscopes©—special microscopes fitted with large top lenses that let a number of viewers in on the experience at once. Visitors can see the various microbes moving around on slides prepared daily by NYSCI staff.

Sea of Microbes

Micro organisms are everywhere, and they often play surprising roles in everyday life. Some microbes are responsible for the creation of food and even medicine, while others live in places humans cannot survive and constantly change the natural landscape of the planet. Visitors can explore the various roles and responsibilities microbes have through numerous text panels and videos.
