Educator guides are developed to support academic standards, and focus on important topics, skills, and activities for students of different age and classroom ranges. Each guide is Based on the New York State Elementary Science Core Curriculum and the New York City New Standards™.

Mathematica Curriculum: 3 – 5

M4: Statistics and Probability Concepts:

  • Predict results and find out why some results are more, less, or equally likely.

M6: Mathematical Skills and Tools:

  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers correctly.

M7: Mathematical Communication:

  • Show mathematical ideas in a variety of ways. Comprehend mathematics from reading assignments and from other sources.

M8: Putting Mathematics to Work:

  • Science: Study Pure Mathematics investigation.
  • Earth & Space Science: Further develop an understanding of how the Earth, the Moon, and other objects in the sky move in regular and predictable patterns, such as eclipses.

Mathematica Curriculum: 6 – 8

M2: Geometry and Measurement Concepts:

  • Analyze and generalize geometric patterns.

M4: Statistics and Probability Concepts:

  • Make predictions based on experimental or theoretical probabilities.
  • Predict the result of a series of trials once the probability for one trial is known.

M8: Putting Mathematics to Work:

  • Earth & Space Science: Describe the motion of the planets, moons, and other objects in the solar system, and how their motion leads to days, nights, months, seasons, years, tides, moon phases, and eclipses.
