The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI), a NYC cultural institution devoted to bringing the excitement and understanding of science and technology to children, families, teachers and others, seeks a talented and energetic professional to join the Development Department’s efforts in foundation, corporate and government agency fundraising as a Development Associate.
The Associate will provide support to a department of eight staff members. The Associate will coordinate all donor acknowledgements, assist with departmental mailings, and maintain the Raiser’s Edge database, including creating new records, revisions and updates, adding notes, coding gifts, and running queries and reports. This position will also manage the department’s administrative functions, including but not limited to: handling invoices, office supplies, expense reports, coordinating hospitality for funder meetings, assembling materials for grant proposal submissions, scheduling meetings between various NYSCI departments and the President's office, organizing and maintaining important organizational documents for proposals and grant applications and managing and organizing donor files (electronic and hardcopy).
Other duties will include conducting research to identify new prospects, (foundations, corporations, individuals) using in-house tools, online subscriptions, and other resources; preparing and leading briefing reports; coordinating research materials and Raiser’s Edge notes to assure ready access to recent information and disposal of dated material; tracking prospect activity with NYSCI systems, and assisting the President’s Office as required.

The Science Instructor will report to the Vice President of Education Services. The Science Instructor role involves developing and implementing teacher trainings and student programs, science curriculum development, afterschool programming and other related educational services as directed. Full Time, 35 hours per week with additional hours as required—weekends and evenings if required (must be flexible).
