School's Out! Innovation Camps

School's Out! Innovation Camps provide a fun and educational adventure for your child during the summer break. Sign-up for this unique experience exploring concepts in science, technology and engineering through hands-on investigations.  Each Innovation Camp includes interactive activities, exhibit exploration, student certificate and a free student membership card. Kidz Kreations

Grade K

July 8 – 12, 9 am – noon

$200;  $175 members

Reimagine and recreate your favorite toys while learning the science behind them. Explore science concepts like balance, weight, reflections and sounds. Visit and be inspired by our featured summer exhibition Design Zone. A mid-morning snack will be provided.

Build It

Grade 1 – 2

July 22 – 26, 9 am – 1 pm

$250; $225 members

 

Grade 3 – 4
July 29 – August 2, 9 am – 3 pm
$350; $325 members

Learn the science behind many cool innovations and imagine ways to make it better. Topics include sound, light and rollercoasters. Visit and be inspired by our featured summer exhibition Design Zone. A mid-morning snack will be provided for all grades; lunch provided for grades 3 – 4.

RECORD IT

Grade 7 – 8
August 12 – 16, 9 am – 3 pm
FREE

Learn how to use digital multi-track recording to experiment with sound effects to set a mood or create a story. Use GarageBand to explore sound effects and create your own unique sound combinations. A mid-morning snack and lunch will be provided.

SCRATCH IT

Grade 5 – 6
August 19 – 23, 9 am – 3 pm
FREE

Explore how to use Scratch to create your own video game and interactive controller. Learn how to combine real world materials such as circuits and sensors with digital programs to make your own projects. A mid-morning snack and lunch will be provided.

THE TOOLSHED PROJECT

Grades 5 – 8

August 26 – 30, 9 am – 3 pm,
September 7 & September 14, times TBD
FREE

Learn how to use hand tools such as pull saws, hammers and drills and make an original creation to be displayed at World Maker Faire. Prerequisite: Scratch It or Record It Camp. A mid-morning snack and lunch will be provided.
