Virtual Design Squad
Grades 7 – 8
July 5 – 9 or August 9 – 13, 9 am-3 pm
What would NYSCI look like if you designed it? Create amazing science exhibits in a 3D virtual environment that people from all over the world can interact with. We’ll show you how to use your imagination and virtual design technology to create endless possibilities!
Amazing Anatomy
Grades 5 – 6
July 12 – 16, 9 am – 3 pm
Explore amazing facts about the human body and how your organs, muscles and bones all work together to perform everyday tasks. Conduct gross and fun experiments to learn how blood circulates, how food is digested and how our senses work. Sheep’s brain and cow’s eye dissection included!
Amazonian Adventures
Grades 3 – 4
July 19 – 23, 9 am – 3 pm
Did you know that chocolate, gum, nuts, bananas and even the oxygen we breathe all come from the rainforest? Find out how important the rainforest is through interactive activities and exploration in our newest traveling exhibit, Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes & Other Riches. Discover the diversity of animals and plants that live there and how you can help save the rainforest.
Kitchen Chemistry
Grades 1 – 2
July 26 – 30, 9 am – noon
Did you know that your kitchen is a science lab waiting to be explored? Conduct fun experiments that you can actually eat! Become a kitchen chemist and learn how ice cream is made, why bread rises, how to churn butter and where yogurt comes from. Take home recipes included so that you can use your science lab (kitchen) at home!
Sense-sational Science
Grade K
August 2 – 6, 9 am – noon
Explore how our five senses work together to tell us about the world around us. Ever wonder why fingers are so sensitive, why we can’t taste food when we are sick or why we sometimes see optical illusions? Experiment with hands-on materials that you can touch, smell, taste, hear and see and discover how animals such as bats and snakes sense differently than we do.
