7-20-09

Queens, N.Y. — The New York Hall of Science will present some of this year's more compelling—and accurate — science films as part of the 2nd Annual Imagine Science Film Festival (ISFF). The Festival, which presents films featuring authentic portrayals of science, scientists, and mathematicians, will be presented at venues throughout New York City from October 15–23, with a series of short films presented at the Hall on Sunday, October 18.

“This festival brings artists, filmmakers and scientists together to explore the excitement of science through visual storytelling,” said Dr. Margaret Honey, CEO and president of the New York Hall of Science. “We are delighted to share this festival with our visitors.”

ISF and the Hall share a common mission: to promote the understanding of science and its potential to improve our lives by making science accessible and stimulating to a broader audience.

“There is a definite need to create a dialogue between scientists and the public, notably the K–12 sector,” says Alexis Gambis, Ph.D., Artistic Director and Founder of

the Imagine Science Film Festival. “The ISFF provides a new perspective on science and scientists that is creative, relatable, engaging, and unrestricted by inspiring enthusiasm and curiosity for science exploration through the art of the moving image. We are very excited to have the New York Hall of Science as a partnering venue for the 2009 edition of ISFF"
