The Science Career Ladder (SCL) is an innovative education and employment program providing fun and meaningful work experience to high school and college students.
SCL students are trained to:
Science Career Ladder benefits educators, students and the NYSCI community at large. Our latest SCL report highlights this signature program by helping other museums start their own explainer programs.
High school and college students can apply as NYSCI Explainer Trainees, with the possibility of developing in the SCL. SCL also has a growing and active Alumni Program and their own social network communities, such as CLUSTER and MYSCI.

NYSCI's SCL is recognized as a model program by Change the Equation, an initiative launched by 100 top CEO’s in partnership with the White House to increase investment in improving the quality of national STEM education; and is featured in The Opportunity Equation case study for Transforming Mathematics and Science Education for Citizenship and the Global Economy:
