The Science Career Ladder (SCL) is an innovative education and employment program providing fun and meaningful work experience to high school and college students.

SCL students are trained to:

• Interact with nearly 500,000 visitors each year
• Explain over 450 hands-on science exhibits
• Perform science demonstrations and activities
• Help facilitate our educational programs and workshops

The Science Career Ladder Report, 1986 - 2010

Science Career Ladder benefits educators, students and the NYSCI community at large. Our latest SCL report highlights this  signature program by helping other museums start their own  explainer programs.

How it works:

 

High school and college students can apply as NYSCI Explainer Trainees, with the possibility of developing in the SCL. SCL also has a growing and active Alumni Program and their own social network communities, such as CLUSTER and MYSCI.
