Rad Gear: Extreme Safety and Style

See and sample products that aid in the safety and support of skating, biking and other forms of adventure sports. Put your individual stamp on sporting gear by making your own. Free with NYSCI admission.

Activities include:

Performances by Bill Shannon – During these fun and inspiring performances, you'll learn about Bill Shannon's special gear and adaptations for hip hop dancing, skateboarding and street performance with crutches. 1, 2 and 3 pm.

Nerdy Derby activities – The Nerdy Derby is a miniature car building and racing competition inspired by the Cub Scouts' Pinewood Derby.

Bright Thread – Learn about retroreflective tape and how it can be used as a safety element for your bike or board with Bright Bike DiY kits and bike wrapping demonstrations.

Open Road – Learn about this organizations's work to design skateboards and skate parks with youth.
