Science of Basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters

Explore the science of basketball with Harlem Globetrotters stars Hammer, Cheese and Tiny. Find out what makes dribbling difficult, why a three-pointer is all in the wrist, and the physics of the perfect dunk. Event is free with general NYSCI admission. Space will be limited, so arrive early.

Science of Basketball Demonstrations with the Harlem Globetrotters – 12:30 & 2:30 pm
Join Harlem Globetrotters stars Hammer, Cheese and Tiny for a special presentation about the science of basketball. The Harlem Globetrotters stars will be joined by one of NYSCI’s Explainers for an entertaining basketball-themed science experiment where you can learn the science behind some of your favorite basketball moves. Tickets are free and will be distributed to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.

  • NYSCI members can meet and greet Hammer, Cheese and Tiny from the Harlem Globetrotters.
  • At the Sports Cart, NYSCI members can learn how sports equipment protects players from injury and leads to new developments in sports.
  • Members can enter to win a signed Harlem Globetrotters basketball.

Hammer, Cheese and Tiny will bring the "Science of Basketball" to NYSCI prior to their highly anticipated game at the Barclays Center on Sunday, October 7 at 5 pm. It marks the first time the Harlem Globetrotters will play a basketball game in Brooklyn. Tickets to see the world’s most famous basketball team are on sale now at www.harlemglobetrotters.com.
