Chaperone Tips

• Learn the names and faces of students in your group and make sure they know your name.
• Use the floorplan maps to plan what exhibitions your group will visit.
• Keep your group in one exhibition area at a time.
• Get involved. Showing your own curiosity is more important than knowing answers.
• Make use of the Explainers in red aprons who are there to assist all visitors.
• Be aware of the time for lunch and departure.
• If you lose a student or find a lost student inform an Explainer or NYSCI staff member immediately.

Ideas Importantes para los Acompañantes

• Aprendan las caras y los nombres de todos los estudiantes en su grupo. Aseguren que ellos también sepan su nombre.
• Utilicen los mapas de las plantas diferentes del museo para planear las exhibiciones que su grupo va a visitar.
•  Mantengan su grupo en solo una área de la exhibición para no molestar a otros grupos. A veces hay muchos estudiantes por todas partes.
• Participen con el grupo. Muéstreles a los estudiantes  que la curiosidad y el querer saber es más importante que el tener la respuesta en si.
• Aprovechen de los ayudantes del museo, o sea, los “Explainers” que llevan delantales rojos. Ellos pueden explicar muchas cosas curiosas e importantes a los estudiantes.
• Esten al tanto de la hora para tener tiempo suficiente para el almuero y para prepararse para la hora de la salida.
• Si ustedes pierden a un estudiante o si encuentran a un estudiante perdido, que avisen a un ayudante del museo inmediatamente.
